D1062 came to the rescue on 25 April 2010, following a steam pipe failure of the 66 GW tank engine. Unfortunately, there were no other spare steam engines to help run the steam service, so the WLA was asked to help out by running the 11.40am service off Kidderminster for one round trip, before the Large Prairie could be swapped from the Limited dining set to complete the second trip. During the day, Bradley Manor failed at Bridgnorth on the steam school special with a broken spring hanger on the tender, so the steam school coach was added to our rake of 7 maroon coaches, (now 8 coaches at 274 tons) to take back to Kidderminster on the 1.35pm departure and then on to Bewdley, where the coach was left in the goods siding on Platform 1 side (a rare move for D1062!). It was fortunate that D1062 had passed her annual FTR exam on Saturday, 24th April by Robin Jones who had declared the locomotive fit to run and that there was enough fuel for the unexpected day out. D1062 performed faultlessly and made light work for the first task of the year.
